Laffing Gas alias Laughing Gas - Years: 1914
Since it's for the Mack Sennett Keystone Studio, expect lots of punching, slapping, and throwing of bricks One of the ways he takes advantage of that is when he steals kisses from one of the lovely female patients by using one of those tweezers to pull her face toward his. And she seems to like it!. |

The Face on the Bar Room Floor - Years: 1914
This early Charlie Chaplin short feature is mildly amusing, with a small touch of humanity. Charlie is an artist who loses his girl to a rich man who came to have his portrait painted. Then, in a bar, Charlie bemoans what has happened. Charlie does make us sympathize a little with the artist. |

Charlie's Recreation - Years: 1914
In this film, Charlie walks around the park kicking, hitting and throwing bricks. That's all! He had done practically the same thing in some previous flicks and it's obvious the director just told him to improvise. Judging by the results, he was having a bad day. |

The Masquerader - Years: 1914
Compared to his more famous shorts from 1915 to 1918 this is not that good but since it is Chaplin I found myself smiling almost constantly.
Here he plays an actor who messes up several takes. He is fired but returns dressed up as a woman. He kind of seduces the movie's director who likes the woman. |
